SAFE Ride for DUI Awareness
Thursday, April 5, 2007

WCTV6-CBS (FL)

A group of bikers is rallying to break a trend that shows about 1200 preventable alcohol deaths happen each year in Florida.

The 180 S.A.F.E. Ride Cycling Team kicked off its second annual 12 day, 1200 mile journey on FSU's campus. Organizers say the eight member team is dedicated to raising awareness and support to reducing teen injuries and deaths.

"We know that a lot of college students decide to go ahead and drink and drive and if I can go into stride and maybe just save one life, that's all it takes," said team cyclist Valeria Nolla. "I'm saving somebody's life and that's all I care about."

The team will make several stops in Florida during this trek, including Live Oak tomorrow, ending at Busch Gardens on April 6.
